![]() Your bugfix on `release-1` "knows" about the full history of the `release-1` branch. So if you create a new commit on `release-1` and then try to merge it to master, the merge will contain ALL changes that are on `release-1` too, because the commit also contains the chain of parents. If you create a branch, it's just a "name" for a commit. Imagine a commit as two parts: The content of the commit and a chain linking it to all its parents and their parents and their parents and so on.Ī branch is nothing more than a human readable name plate for a commit.
